Business Plans
Whether applying for a grant, tendering to deliver a service, or seeking another form of investment, a business plan is a key document when you are looking for funding. The business plan helps funders understand your organisation's vision and goals, how you are going to spend the money and the benefits it will bring. There is a page to help you with this in the Preparation section.
It is the first source of information that most providers of funding see and is crucial in getting their attention and interest.

What makes a good funding application?
It's important to make a good case, in other words sell what you do! See marketing and promotion pages for help.
Remember that funders need to know:
- What you want to do (an outline of the project / business plan).
- How much it will cost (backed up by a budget).
- Applications need to be easy to read and concise.
- Work out your own budget before filling in that part of the form and keep your working notes, in case they ask questions on how you came up with the figures.
