Apply to be a Co-op local cause, deadline 8 August 2017

30 June 2017

The Co-op local cause scheme is open for applications from registered charities, small charities registered with HMRC for tax, registered community amateur sports clubs, churches that are 'excepted' charities and Scout/ Guide groups.

Projects led by religious organisations can be considered as long as the projects themselves benefit the wider local community and do not have religious or political aims. Your cause and project needs to be in keeping with the Co‑op's values.

The funder will give priority to local charities and other organisations with an income of less than £1 million a year. The first payments to successful groups will be made in January 2018.

Groups working in more than one area

The Co-op will only consider one application per organisation. "This means we won't consider multiple applications from the same organisation in a Giving Period for different local communities."

Ineligible costs

Grants are not available for:

  • Promoting any political activities or causes
  • Promoting any religious beliefs
  • Exclusively paying salaries or other running costs
