29 June 2016

Grants of up to £1,000 are available from a new scheme called "Carriers for Causes". The fund is administered by Groundwork and aims to support projects that "benefit local communities - helping to improve lives and local places".

Projects must be within two miles of a participating One Stop store. In Bradford district there are four stores, one in Keighley and three in Bradford.

"The types of project we fund is very broad and can cover the direct costs you will need to deliver your project, this could be buying litter pickers and bags for a community cleanup day, plants, spades and forks to plant up a new community garden, the cost of a minibus for a day trip for a community group or the materials needed to paint a room at the local hospice.

"Carriers for Causes is a rolling programme, where community groups or charities can apply for funding all year round. Applicants will generally know the outcome of their application within 16 weeks of applying.

"Applications will be accepted from a wide range of organisations including: voluntary/community organisations, registered charities, schools, health bodies, Parish/Town councils, social enterprises, Community Interest Companies, community councils, local authorities and housing organisations."

Check that your project is within two miles of a One Stop store using the store locator.
