New UK investment fund: Tech to Unite Us

3 July 2018

A new investment fund from the Social Tech Trust (formerly Nominet Trust):

"Tech to Unite Us is the inaugural £0.5m grant fund of our Innovate Social Tech programme. It aims to demonstrate how tech can reach its transformative potential when it’s driven by one of the greatest opportunities of our time – equality. Eligible ventures can apply for a grant of up to £45,000 over a 9 to 12-month funding period. Technical assistance is provided to accelerate venture growth."

Advice from the funder:

  • Your venture must already have a core skilled team with capacity to deliver, values and commitment necessary to achieve your vision. In-house tech skills is mandatory for Tech to Unite Us.
  • Your team must already have a working product or service that you will still be testing and improving through continued user testing and increasingly rigorous social impact evaluation.

"If you are still at a concept or paper prototype phase, or if you have an established product or service that has already received significant investment and is self-sustaining, then your venture is not at the right stage for Innovate Social Tech."

"If you want just to add tech to existing services to make them more efficient or cost-effective, then Tech to Unite Us is not the fund for you."
