People's Health Trust Active Communities, deadline 4 April 2018 (1pm)

12 March 2018

The People's Health Trust Active Communities grants programme is now open for applications from the "HealthBloom" area - this includes parts of Bradford district.

To be eligible, projects need to be designed and led by local people and enable their neighbourhood or community to come together to address an issue that is important to them. Projects must also:

  • "Create stronger connections between people by supporting them to meet up regularly (weekly, fortnightly or monthly, for at least one year)
  • Be for people who experience greater social and economic disadvantage than people living in other parts of the country
  • Be either:
    • small and local, for example, involving residents living in a few streets, an estate, a small village and working in one or more of our 'fundable neighbourhoods', or
    • a community of interest - a group of people who have shared experiences, characteristics or common interests and wish to come together to address specific issues that are important to them. They may live across a wider area."

New and existing projects that last between one and two years can be funded. One organisation can apply for a maximum of two projects in one area that is open for funding.

"The minimum grant that you can apply for is £5,000 over one year, £7,500 over 18 months, or £10,000 over two years.

"The maximum amount of funding we will invest in a project is £50,000. We are highly unlikely to fund a grant of £50,000 over one year."

Who can apply?

Not for profit groups that have been constituted for at least three months can apply. Groups must have an income of less than £350,000 a year and less than six months' annual running costs in savings.

Specific areas of Bradford district are eligible, including parts of Shipley & Keighley - please check the map. "It is essential that at least 80% of your participants come from fundable neighbourhoods." Projects for communities of interest can also be funded - the application process is slightly different for these projects.

Please read the HealthBloom area guidance notes - this is the first step of the application process. Complete each step to get to the application form.

The published deadline for applications is 4 April 2018 (1pm). However, this funder has closed previous rounds before the deadline so apply as soon as possible.
