Safer Communities Fund, deadline 15 June 2018 (12pm)

The Safer Communities Fund offers grants of up to £5,000 to help voluntary and community groups, charities and partners make their communities safer and feel safer.

Grants will be awarded in line with the outcomes and priorities set out in the Police and Crime plan. Projects must take place in West Yorkshire.

Priority theme for this funding round

The theme for this round of funding is: "Projects that specifically tackle all forms of serious violent crime, including those focusing on prevention and early intervention, supporting diversion away from crime, protection and education and support for victims of serious violence."

Applications focussing on other priorities in the Police and Crime Plan should apply for a future grant round.

Victim Support defines violent crime as "when someone physically hurts or threatens to hurt someone, and also includes crimes where a weapon is used."

Violent crimes can include:

  • Assault
  • Gun and knife crime
  • Sexual violence (such as rape or sexual assault)
  • Alcohol and drug-related violence
  • Gang violence
  • Domestic violence
  • Hate crimes (disability, faith, gender, gender identity, race or sexual orientation)
  • Robbery
  • Murder or manslaughter
