Green Buildings Event (Halifax)
The Better Business Environment Forum is holding a green buildings event at Shibden Hall Visitor Centre, Halifax, from 9.30am -1.30pm (including lunch and networking) on Tuesday 6 July.
The four-part briefing will include:
1. Caroline Batson, sustainability manager at RBS Architects, will explain what eco building is all about. Caroline will use the planning of Shibden Hall Visitor Centre as a case study, explaining how the building was designed to minimise running impacts, how construction materials were chosen and what technologies were used. Caroline will also give an update on the new Part L building regulations and how modelling buildings will achieve this, and explore green building principles and technologies suitable for retrofitting.
2. Daniel Relton of Fading Footprints will talk about what issues he tackles when helping organisations reduce the energy consumption and running costs of existing buildings. He will also demystify Display Energy Certificates and Energy Performance Certificates - what they do, when you need one, and when you don't.
3. Jos Mister from the Energy Saving Trust will give a briefing on renewable energy solutions - helping you navigate technology types, payback times, feed-in tariffs and energy futures to work out whether or not renewable energy might be right for your business. Jos will also give you the latest advice on grants and funding which may be available.
4. Caroline Batson will give a short 'behind-the-scenes' tour of the Shibden Visitor Centre, giving delegates a chance to see and touch the eco features embedded in the building.
The event costs £30 for members of Bradford, Leeds, York & North Yorkshire & Mid-Yorkshire Chambers of Commerce and Bradford Property Forum. It is £45 for all other delegates (ex. VAT).
