Save money on training

Free and subsidised training is sometimes available. A training diary of events is available on Bradford CVS Training – bsupported website which advertises courses and includes details of free in-house tailored training for management committees.  Course fees start from £30 for a half-day session for voluntary and community groups - so its worth planning ahead and budgeting for training in your funding plan.

UPDATE 1 April 2012 - Fee reduction scheme for CVS TrainingDoes your group have an income of less than £30,000 a year?

If it does, then it can apply for a fee reduction on CVS Training standard course fees.  To apply for the reduction download the application form and return a signed copy with your CVS Training booking formPlease note, the reduction does not apply to First Aid courses or to courses that are already discounted (i.e. those with a £10 course fee).

Free training is often advertised at short notice (a month or less) – for example, if a funder has an underspend. E-mail is a good way of finding about about free training. West Yorkshire Community Accounting Service offers free one-to-one training in financial planning, bookkeeping, internal financial procedures and controls and reporting to the committee to organisations with a turnover of less than 100k. Contact Dave Collins on 01422 835192.

The Consortia of Ethnic Minority Organisations has a purpose-built ICT Learning Zone with email, internet and printing facilities.
