Speak Up Film Fund, deadline 2 March (5pm)

1 February 2012

"The Speak Up Fund is run by the Community Film Unit to partially fund films for organisations and groups that are dedicated to their local communities. The Fund aspires to make high-quality film available to organisations who have either not considered it before, never had access to professional training, or been unable to justify the costs of producing their own film resources."

Applications from organisations across England will be considered for projects in 2012 that include a filmmaking component, including (but not limited to):

  • Making a promotional film for your organisation
  • Documenting change in a community over a longer time period
  • Providing filmmaking training and workshops

The fund particularly welcomes applications from Social Enterprises, Community Interest Companies, and any volunteer organisations that work extensively with their local communities.  The deadline for applications is 5pm on the 2nd of March.

Up to 50% of match funding will be awarded to successful applications based on "individual merit and the nature of each proposed project". Successful applicants will be notified throughout May and June.

The fund is "very keen to support organisations whose work includes:

  • Supporting young people and/or vulnerable people in their local community
  • Preserving local history and educating residents about their area
  • Providing and documenting opportunities for the disabled
  • Developing their community and encouraging integration between different groups
  • Providing information which improves the quality of life for residents in their local community"
