Membership of Sported for groups in West Yorkshire is currently open. Membership entitles groups to access mentoring support, advice services and apply for Sported grants.
Membership is open to groups that provide opportunities for young people aged between 11 – 25 years to take part in sport and physical activity. The “project must focus on using sport as a vehicle for development rather than participation.” This means that there should be a wider community benefit to the project. Membership is open to sports groups and groups that want to run a sports project i.e. they could be a residents association or a community centre wanting to run a sport or physical activity project.
Membership is free but eligibility criteria apply
Details of the benefits of joining are available from http://www.sported.org.uk/join-us/members
Sported would like to be a funder of last resort and encourages groups to look at other funders and then go to Sported if other funders are not suitable or if other bids have been unsuccessful.
Grants are assessed every quarter. Small grants of up to £2,000 are available. The main grants programme starts with a mentoring process and grants average £7 - £10,000. Sported can fund a broad range of projects through the main grants scheme, including equipment and salaries. Match funding is welcomed but not essential.
Remember, to be eligible to apply for a grant, you need to become a member of Sported first. Membership is free and open to more than just sports groups.
