An unincorporated association is a group, club or society with a constitution but not a Company Ltd by guarantee, Community Interest Company or an Industrial & Provident Society.
Your group is eligible to apply for grant funding. However, remember to read the funder’s guidance carefully – it’s there to help all applicants and could save you time. If the guidance is not clear, there is often a phone number or email address given for general enquiries – use it. Funders would rather deal with a quick enquiry than an ineligible funding application.
If your group is a company limited by guarantee, to be able to apply to most grant funders you must be able to show that it is set up not for private profit. Voluntary and community groups often use either a constitution or their charity’s governing document to do this (as appropriate).
