Big Lottery Fund, Youth Capacity, deadline 19th November

The Big Lottery have £1.2 million in funding to invest in local grassroots organisations working with disadvantaged young people who are not in education, employment or training to increase their capacity. They are particularly interested in applications from organisations working with BAME young people. There are only three areas in the country eligible and Bradford is one of these. The funding is for small groups (With a turnover of less than £250,000, or Employing less than 3 members of staff.

You can apply for a grant of up to £50,000 for up to one year. 

The Youth Capacity Fund will support organisations to:

  • Build their own capacityto deliver more for young people in the future, for example, improving fundraising capacity, organisational and staff development, business development work or youth voice development
  • Develop partnershipsacross organisations,to help support grassroots organisations collaborate with other local organisations, including public bodies and businesses who can achieve wider impact together.

They invite local voluntary or grassroots community groups based in the following local authority areas to apply:

  • Birmingham
  • Bradford
  • Barking & Dagenham

Guidance Notes

You can take a look at the eligibility criteria, guidance and priorities and fill in a first round application form any time up to November 19th. 

A first round of decisions will be made in December 2018. Groups who are invited to progress to the second stage of the process will be asked to fill in an application form with more information, so that they can be considered in the first round of funding decisions. Groups will be given more time if they have a great idea but are not ready to provide information needed for a full grant assessment. Final decisions may be made until April 2019.

  3. About the people and communities you work with
  • They will contact you: A Funding Officer based in your local area will contact you regarding next stepswithin 15 days
  • Deadline: We will close the online format 12 noon on Monday 19th November.
