Bradford VCS Alliance, Asset Based Community Development grants

2 January 2019

Round two of Asset Based Community Development grants are open for applications.

"Bradford City and Districts clinical commissioning groups have invested non-recurrent funds to support and activate a range of grassroots community activities and ideas which will improve the health and wellbeing of local people.

"The intention is that the funding will promote the values and principles of the Asset Based Community Development approach which builds on the assets that are found in the community and mobilises individuals, associations, and institutions to come together to realise and develop their strengths."

Small grants of £250 to £1,000 are available for community groups to run their own project to meet the health and wellbeing needs within Bradford City and District CCG areas. In this second round, the funder is particularly looking for applications for projects in Bingley, Tong and Holmewood, Manningham and Girlington.

Projects should be based on Asset Based Community Development values:

  • Identify and make visible the health enhancing assets in a community.
  • See citizens and communities as the co-producers of health and wellbeing, rather than the recipients of services.
  • Promote community networks, relationships and friendships that can provide caring, mutual help and empowerment.
  • Identify what has the potential to improve health and wellbeing.
  • Support individuals’ health and wellbeing through self-esteem, coping strategies, resilience skills, relationships, friendships, knowledge and personal resources.
  • Empower communities to control their futures and create tangible resources such as services, funds and buildings.

Please read the guidance notes before completing the application form.

The deadline for the second round of applications is 22 February 2019 (5pm).
